Annual VFW Turkey Raffle / 6PM / With fond memories of good times stuffed with camaraderie by the number, members of the VFW Post 3873 and Auxiliary are set to host their annual Turkey Raffle on Nov. 23. Be prepared to gobble up an evening of cheers, packed with enthusiastic barkers selling raffle tickets among fun-loving revelers, all eager to take home prized turkeys, slabs of prime rib and holiday gift baskets when the three-hour event returns to the VFW just in time for Thanksgiving. The evening also offers participating folks a chance to win the 50-50 Raffle. Public is welcome. All generosity is appreciated. The Judd Kendall VFW is located at 908 W. Jackson Avenue.

Rumba Sunday Brunch at AltaVida / 10AM to 3PM / Housed in a 10,000 square-foot, multilevel complex at 16 W. Remember! Lions Club Turkey Trot 5K again will run Thanksgiving Day, followed by cheers at downtown Naperville restaurants such as Quigley’s Irish Pub open 8AM until noon. Recently, the Rotary Club of Naperville-Sunrise and high school Interact Clubs volunteered to turn Water Street into a spectacular holiday display of lights, music and magic beginning at Main Street and running toward Jaycees Park along the Riverwalk. From now through the New Year, NaperLights will accent all the tiny bright white lights throughout downtown Naperville celebrating the holiday season.

Parade of Lights steps off at 7PM Fri., Nov. 29

Of course, it’s never too early to mark your calendar for the downtown Naperville parade with all the bright ideas about the community when Santa comes to town, hosted by the Rotary Club of Naperville. Local Special Olympians will serve as Grand Marshals for the annual Parade of Lights set to begin at 7PM Fri., Nov. 29. Everybody’s welcome to come early to discover all the sights as well as places to shop and enjoy dinner. Happy holidays!
