Naperville Citizens Appreciate Public Safety (CAPS) is a volunteer-led organization dedicated to recognizing and honoring the outstanding service of the Naperville Police Department in May and Naperville Fire Department in October. During the Public Safety Open House on Sept. 28, visitors were invited to talk with board members and learn more about CAPS.
During Fire Prevention Month every October, Citizens Appreciate Public Safety (CAPS) presents its annual awards ceremonies to highlight the bravery, dedication and commitment of the city’s first responders.
On Thurs., Oct. 17, 2024, Meson Sabika will host the annual CAPS Fire Department Awards presentation, also celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Naperville Fire Department with dinner, in the Pavilion.
The event will feature a display of fire vehicles at 6PM, followed by dinner and an awards presentation at 6:30PM, recognizing firefighters who have gone above and beyond in their service to the community, said Derek McDaniel on behalf of the CAPS Board of Directors.
The community is welcome. Tickets are $45 each.

Throughout 2024, the department has been celebrating its 150th anniversary, marking a century and a half of dedicated service and innovation. Dating back to its beginnings in 1894, the Naperville Fire Department has evolved into a modern, full-service department while maintaining its deep-rooted connection to the Naperville community.
“It has been an honor to serve on the Naperville CAPS board,” said McDaniel. “As a community, this annual dinner is our opportunity to recognize the commitment of all who serve the Naperville Fire Department and their dedication to keep us safe. They deserve our unwavering support.”
The Pavilion at Meson Sabika is located at 1025 Aurora Avenue.
