Art Talk – Riverwalk Fine Art Fair brings vibrant in-tents city to downtown Naperville

-

Arts organizations across the county are announcing their 2024-2025 season, and the upcoming year looks promising. But before we confine ourselves to indoor performances, let’s explore the slate of outdoor events offered right here in Naperville.

September’s calendar is chock full of activities suitable for couples, families, groups, and solo travelers. It includes all-night movies, architectural tours, Pride Fest, Hispanic Fest, Irish Fest, the Indian American Trade Fair, the Last Fling, and the Riverwalk Fine Art Fair (RFAF), a perennial favorite of art lovers and fun seekers searching for an uplifting, colorful experience.

As the Naperville Art League’s (NAL) signature event, RFAF hosts 100 of the nation’s top artists as they showcase their fine art and fine craft amidst the backdrop of fall’s multi-hued palette. This year’s show is set for 10AM to 5PM Sat. and Sun., Sept. 21 and 22, on Jackson Avenue, between Main and Eagle Streets and along Naperville’s Riverwalk.

The juried show has earned a reputation for being one of the best art fairs in the country, a notion supported by local media: West Suburban Living Magazine named RFAF the Best Art and Craft Show in its annual Best of the West edition, and Glancer Magazine Readers’ Choice Awards ranked it as DuPage County’s top art festival.

But what makes it exceptional? With high-quality art at its center, RFAF is a marketplace that features a mix of new and returning artists, keeping the show fresh and intriguing. Fair-goers will find a culturally diverse mix of work in various mediums, including painting, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, and fiber. In addition, the DuPage Symphony Orchestra, Acappellago, and Strings+Things will provide musical entertainment that will further create a richly textured arts experience in nature’s open gallery. DuPage Children’s Museum and Pura Vida Talk will also be on site with various kids’ activities to help cultivate a future of art enthusiasts in the community.

RFAF is only a two-day event, but any artwork you purchase will last for years. So why not refresh your home and your soul in this immersive weekend of art opportunities?
