Naperville is brimming with ways to get active, and we have plenty of ideas to help you enjoy and explore the area.
Springbrook Prairie has seven miles of multi-use crushed limestone trails that wind their way through the vast prairie landscape where you can enjoy hiking, biking, running and horseback riding, with an interactive trail map to help plan your adventure. Take advantage of the off-leash dog area, model-craft area and endless picnic areas. Once winter hits, the trails are a prime destination for cross country skiing, hiking and birding.
Springbrook Prairie also includes the nationally-designated Springbrook Prairie Regional Trail, and is part of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County that has endless miles to explore and plenty of options for corporate retreats and team building.
For water fun, grab a paddleboat, paddleboard or kayak to play at Paddleboat Quarry. From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, spend the day at Centennial Beach’s immaculate sand beach or check out one of Naperville’s three splash pads with the kids.
Get on the DuPage River with Naperville Kayak on a standup paddle board or kayak and see Naperville from a whole new perspective while taking in wildlife like blue heron, jumping fish, river otters and turtles.
For cycling enthusiasts, Naperville has a bicycle club, multiple places accessible by bike, as well as bike routes available through the City of Naperville. Naperville also has two access points to the DuPage River Trail, a 8.23-mile multi-use trail perfect for cycling.
Naperville parks have plenty of ways to get active with hiking, biking, or outdoor workouts. The outdoor fitness areas are perfect to make a workout your own or workout with a friend, followed by coffee or lunch, of course.
A stroll or run along the Riverwalk is always a good idea with the backdrop of covered bridges, sculptures and nature at the water’s edge. Or lace up for a run with local running stores that coordinate running events and training clubs.
Grab your clubs and check out one of Naperville’s six golf courses. A mix of public and private, you’ll find exceptional course design, driving ranges, relaxing lounge/meeting space and well-equipped pro shops to meet the needs of your individual or group outing.
All incredible options for an active adventure!
