Naper Settlement September 2024 Events and Programs

Naper Settlement is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10AM-4PM and Sunday from 1-4 PM with general museum admission $12 for adults (13+), $10 for seniors (62+), and $8 for youth (4-12). The outdoor living history museum is located in the heart of Naperville at 523 Webster Street and Aurora Avenue.

Naperville residents with proof of residency, children under 4, and members receive complimentary admission. For more information about a specific event or program and to purchase museum admission tickets, visit NaperSettlement.org.

Weed Ladies Fall Preview Sale

Tuesday, September 3 • 10AM-6PM / Free admission to the sale | Learn More

The Weed Ladies Fall Preview Sale features creative seasonal floral arrangements for sale. Each one-of-a-kind silk or dried floral creation has been designed by the Weed Ladies of the Naperville Heritage Society volunteer group. Proceeds benefit the Naperville Heritage Society. Admission to the Weed Ladies Fall Preview Sale is free.

Naper Settlement Farmers Market

Tuesday, September 3, 10, & 17 • 3-7PM / Free admission | Learn More

The Naper Settlement Farmers Market features live music, educational programming, and a variety of local vendors. Shop for an assortment of goods, including fresh produce, sweets, spices, handcrafted items, and more. The Naper Settlement Farmers Market takes place every Tuesday through September 17.

Town and Gown Walking Tour

Thursday, September 5 • 5:30-6:30PM / $15/person, free for children under 4 | Register

Explore the east side of downtown Naperville and learn about the ways the community developed along with North Central College. The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and covers about two miles. Open to all ages. Pre-registration is required.

Homeschool Days: Artifact Encounters

Thursday, September 12 • 10AM-4PM / $8/person, free for children under 4 | Register

Homeschool families and groups are invited to encounter and investigate artifacts while enjoying Naper Settlement’s 13-acre outdoor campus. The past will come alive as you learn about the museum’s historic houses and discuss their place in Naperville’s history. Artifact Encounters is designed to engage homeschool students in inquiry skills and discussion about the people who lived in this area and shaped our community.

Homeschool Homestead Walking Tour

Thursday, September 12 • 11AM-12:30PM / $10/person, free for children under 4 | Register

Join this walking tour from Naper Settlement to Joseph Naper’s Homestead site, about a two-mile walk, and learn with the curatorial and education team. Learn more about Joseph Naper and early Naperville as you are introduced to the site of his original homestead. The tour will return to Naper Settlement where you will have the chance to study artifacts retrieved from the Homestead site during an archaeological dig. Not recommended for children under the age of 7.

Downtown Naperville Architecture Walking Tour

Thursday, September 12 • 5:30-6:30PM / $15 per person, free for children under 4 | Register

Learn about the important and interesting architecture from the 1800s to today that makes downtown Naperville a beautiful place to live, work, and play. The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and covers about two miles. Open to all ages. Pre-registration is required. 

Tales From The Tombstones – Cemetery Walking Tour

Sunday, September 22 • 4PM, 4:45PM, & 5:30PM / $20 per person, free for children under 4 | Register

Interact with voices from Naperville’s 19th century past. Take a stroll through Naperville cemetery and hear engaging stories from past Naperville residents. Pre-registration is required. 

Teacher Tuesdays: How the British Empire Shaped Our Diets (Virtual)

Tuesday, September 24 • 4-5PM / $10 per teacher | Register

Transform your Tuesdays into an engaging historical discussion and leave with 1.0 CPDU credit. Today’s diets are unique. People eat more diverse foods with little regard to seasons. Learn how our food system is the product of the British Empire’s global conquest during this history discussion. Teacher Tuesdays is a virtual professional development program for teachers. Pre-registration is required.

Listen to stories from Naperville’s founding to the generosity of Caroline Martin Mitchell on a walking tour of the west side of downtown Naperville. The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and covers about two miles. Open to all ages. Pre-registration is required.

Game by Beer: Betrayal (Game by Beer Series)

Thursday, September 26 • 7-9PM / $20 per adult (21+) | Register

Experience the thrill of Betrayal in a relaxed atmosphere with friends. Sip on your favorite adult beverage as you navigate through the twists and turns of the haunted mansion storyline. Don’t miss this haunted evening of strategy and enjoyment! This program is for adults only – you must be at least 21 years of age to participate. A valid ID is required at event entry. Pre-registration is required.  

STEAM Explorers

Ignite your child’s curiosity with STEAM Explorers – the ultimate adventure in science, technology, engineering, art, and math! Let your kids unleash their creativity and problem-solving skills through hands-on activities. Join Naper Settlement for an exciting journey where young minds can experiment, create, and discover the wonders of STEAM.
