At 2:50PM on Wed., April 20, 2024, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a call for a structure fire in the garage of a two story, single-family home located in the 1800 block of Princess Lane.

Naperville 911 (PSAP) dispatched a general alarm assignment consisting of 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel including an Incident Commander and Incident Safety Officer to the reported address.

At 2:57PM, the first arriving vehicle found fire conditions in the attached garage. Fire companies ensured all residents were out of the home and then quickly deployed a hose line to contain the fire.

One adult, child and dog were home at the time of the fire.

At 3:04PM, the fire was deemed under control and contained to the garage. The fire appeared to have started in a garbage can located inside the garage.

Fire companies remained on the scene another 30 minutes to ensure all hot spots were extinguished. The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police and Electric departments. Mutual aid fire companies also assisted from Warrenville, Plainfield, Oswego, and Romeoville. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

There were no injuries to any occupants or firefighters while operating on scene. The building was deemed to be inhabitable by the Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development Team. The blaze is estimated to have caused $15,000 in damage.

Report submitted by Douglas J. Erwin, Division Chief: Emergency Medical Services, Naperville Fire Department.
