Things to do around Naperville this weekend: February 16-18

Look toward a little luck of the Irish on March 9 in downtown Naperville. 

Online registration ($40) is now in progress for the St. Paddy’s Day 5K hosted by Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise. Charity fun run-walk begins at 8AM.

Online registration is now in progress for entries in the 2024 WSI St. Patrick’s Parade set for Sat., March 9. Parade begins at 10AM from NNHS and winds through downtown to NCHS.

Friday

Expanded Early Voting for DuPage County Residents Only / 8AM to 4:30PM Weekdays through March 2, 2024 / On Thurs., Feb. 8, Expanded Early Voting began at the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle Street – Meeting Rooms A&B. DuPage County voters may be cast early from 9AM to noon on Saturdays, Feb. 10, 17 and 24. Beginning March 4, additional Early Voting sites will be open daily throughout Naperville with expanded hours until Primary Election Day, Tues., March 19.

Judd Kendall VFW Fish Fry / 4:30 to 7:30PM at Judd Kendall VFW – 908 West Jackson Ave. Naperville, IL / The tradition continues! The Naperville VFW Friday Fish Fry will be held every Friday from 4:30 to 7:30PM at 908 West Jackson Ave. in Naperville during Lent.
The cost is $15 per plate of fish and fries. Add $5 for pizza or shrimp. Cash bar available.

Chess In Concert / 8PM / Madden Theater will be transformed into an intimate cabaret room with a live orchestra and a cast of talented actors performing a concert version of Chess. Madden Theater is located in North Central College Fine Arts Center at 171 E. Chicago Avenue. Performances also at 8PM Feb. 16 and 17. Matinees at 2PM Sun., 18. CLASH of the Sequins 2024 / 10AM to 10PM at Naperville North High School 899 N. Mill St. Naperville, IL 60563 / Come to the NNHS Field House on February 17 for The CLASH of the Sequins 2024. The Show Choirs of NNHS have been hard at work getting ready to host this one-of-a-kind Show Choir Competition and we hope you’ll come join in the fun! High Heeled Harmony performs at 4:15PM, Entourage performs at 9:30PM, and Road Show performs at noon. There are also be many other knock-out performances from visiting groups throughout the day, beginning at 10AM. Tons of great food provided by Belgio’s Catering & DeEtta’s Bakery, along with several other food vendors. Tickets are $22 at the door (cash/card accepted).

Naperville Astronomical Association Observatory Public Night of Stargazing / 7:30PM to 10PM at the NAA Astronomy Education Center, 3712 Plainfield-Naperville Road / Discover the wonders of the heavens through NAA observatory telescopes, as well as through members’ personal scopes set up outside on the lawn. Always FREE events are weather dependent. “Go-or-cancel notice” should be displayed on the calendar and on the NAA homepage by 2PM the afternoon of the event.

Pfeiffer Hall

The Drifters in Concert / 8PM at Pfeiffer Hall – 310 E. Enter downtown Naperville along Main Street for a day of bargain hunting as stores offer clearance sales while making room for spring merchandise. While you’re there, take a break and head over to the Riverwalk Civic Plaza, Jackson Avenue at Webster. Note the historical plaque that indicates the Riverwalk celebrated its first 42 years on Sept. 7, 2023. 

When strolling the Riverwalk, look for bronze plaques that help tell the story of this community’s can-do spirit to create the Riverwalk Park along the DuPage River. In 2021, dozens of commemorative plaques from Main Street to Jefferson Avenue were restored to readability with funds made available by the Riverwalk Foundation to enhance the community’s natural treasure.
