The Naperville Police Department is now accepting applications for a 10-week Citizen Police Academy (CPA) to be held this spring. The academy will begin on Wed., March 6, 2024, and continue every Wednesday night until May 8.
Applications are due by Wed., Jan. 31, 2024, and will be considered in the order they are received.
Naperville’s Citizen Police Academy gives citizens insight into the innerworkings of police operations, practices and objectives. Instruction consists of classroom lectures, interactive discussions and hands-on demonstrations focusing on various aspects of police work, including patrol, investigations, forensics, and special response, among others.
“CPA is an excellent opportunity for a behind-the-curtains peak at how the police department in Naperville does business,” said Police Chief Jason Arres. “The class allows residents to see what the day-to-day looks like for our personnel, and it introduces them to the many different ways we are working to protect and serve our community. If you’ve ever wondered about our policies, tactics, equipment, training or any other topic concerning policing in Naperville, you’ll learn all that and more at CPA.”
