DuPage County set to host ‘Safe from Scams: Protecting Seniors and Their Assets’

Above / DuPage County plans program from 9:30 to 11AM Jan. 31, 2024, to inform community regarding scams and fraud aimed at elderly.

Wheaton – Senior citizens, caregivers and family members are invited to join representatives from the County offices of the Recorder, Treasurer, State’s Attorney, Sheriff, and Information Technology for a free, informational session on avoiding scams and fraud aimed at senior citizens and the elderly.

Attendees will learn how to spot common scams including phone, internet, dating, and social media schemes. They’ll receive tips on keeping their money secure and learn how to report financial fraud if they suspect they are a victim.

The event runs from 9:30 to 11AM Wed., Jan. 31, in the first floor Auditorium of the JTK Administration Building, 421. N County Farm Road, Wheaton.

Attendees are invited to enjoy refreshments as they learn about programs designed to protect themselves, their money, homes, and other assets. The event will be livestreamed on the County’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC45ol-gzYfebGvZ3OLhzClA) and will be available to watch on YouTube following the program.

WHO: DuPage County Recorder Kathleen Carrier; DuPage County Treasurer Gwen Henry; representatives from DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin’s Office; Lt. Eduardo Castillo of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office; DuPage County Cybersecurity Analyst; and other DuPage County staff.

WHERE: JTK Administration Building Auditorium, 421 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton

JTK Administration Building Auditorium is located about 15 to 20 minutes from Naperville at 421 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton.
