The Naperville Municipal Band performed its annual Holiday Concert to a packed auditorium at Neuqua Valley High School on Sunday, December 10, 2023, all welcoming the chance to get into the spirit of the season.
Director Emily Binder and Associate Director Bill Jastrow selected a program of holiday favorites including classics such as Leroy Anderson’s The Sleigh Ride and A Christmas Festival. Newer favorites included How the Grinch Stole Christmas, A Cowboy Christmas, Toboggan Ride, and a beautiful setting of Silent Night titled On That Night All Was Silent by David Samuel.
Six high school students were recognized by Associate Director Bill Jastrow for sharing their talents with the band: Victoria Lokshin, clarinet; Alana Johnson, clarinet; Ege Tunar, saxophone; Debarya Saya, trumpet; Braden Calhoun, euphonium; and Skanda Iyer, tuba.
The band ended with the perennial crowd favorite, A Christmas Sing-A-Long.
And the audience ended with a rousing standing ovation and cheers.
Save the date! The next indoor concert will be performed at 3PM Sun., March 17, at Metea Valley High School at which time the MVHS Wind Ensemble will join the NMB to play music by composers Sousa, Owens, Hazo, Ellington and Mussorgsky. The community is welcome!
Happy holidays!
