Friday

North Central College Homecoming / North Central College will hold its Homecoming 2023 this weekend of October 6-8. Visit www.northcentralcollege.edu/homecoming for a complete list of weekend events including alumni receptions, campus tours, football game, concert and more.

Brats at Kreger’s / 10AM to 3PM Fridays and Saturdays at Kreger’s Brat and Sausage Haus – 606 N. Ellsworth Naperville, IL 60563 / Stop by for lunch, conversation and camaraderie. Plan a barbecue and pick up handcrafted bratwurst for the grill. And be sure to tell Bill Kreger that you know his wurst is the best. Football season is here!

Oktoberfest at Naper Settlement / 5-10PM at Naper Settlement – 523 S. Webster St. Naperville, IL 60540 / $15 – 20 / Traditional German cuisine and beer will be overflowing in a giant heated tent, with lively Oompah music on Friday and a mix of pop-polka, country, and hip hop on Saturday. There will be lawn games for the whole family and a professional pumpkin carver onsite. Guests can test their strength in a stein holding contest on Saturday from 5-5:30PM. Grab your lederhosen and join us at this fun German festival! Enjoy one of the largest Oktoberfest beer varieties in the area! Whether you are looking for an authentic German Oktoberfest or a local take on your favorite seasonal brew, our beverage tent will have something for you. Wine and cider will also be available. ***Ghost Stories in the Park…In the Dark / 7PM / Presented by Summer Place Theatre, four performances are scheduled to return to the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion on October 6-8, featuring talented, local storytellers telling spine-tingling tales. Purchase tickets ($7) online at www.napervilleparks.org or upon arrival. This outdoor event is appropriate for adults and children ages 5 and up. Guests are advised to dress for the weather. (Note one-hour performances also are 6PM and 8PM on Saturday as well as 7PM on Sunday.)

Saturday

Naperville Farmers Market / 7AM to Noon at Fifth Avenue Station – 200 East 5th Ave. Naperville, IL 60540 / The Farmers Market runs June through November with June-November we host 50-plus vendors every Saturday 7AM-noon.

“Doing Business with the City of Naperville” / 10AM / The comprehensive two-hour workshop (details here) aims to teach participants about doing business with the City as a large company, small business or individual vendor. The workshop will take place from 10AM to noon at the Naperville Bank and Trust located at 555 Fort Hill Dr. in Naperville. The workshop is free and open to the public by registering here.    

Magical Starlight Theatre auditions for Beauty and the Beast / 1PM to 5PM / Find details here. Audition at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, 305 W. Jackson Avenue. No advance time slot reservation is required; those auditioning are grouped as they arrive.

North Central College Homecoming Football / 6PM / Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Cardinals match up with Carroll University Pioneers. The Cardinals will go on the field with a 4-0 record overall for this season. Fireworks will follow the game. Update! Cardinals win, 69-24. Click here for wrap up.

***Enjoy Family-Friendly Quigley’s Irish Pub / 8:30PM at Quigley’s Irish Pub – 43 E. Jefferson Ave. Naperville, IL 60540 / Quigley’s Irish Pub features live music Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Stop by for a cool pint, live music and honest pub fare. Weather permitting, the patio is open every day!

Sunday

***Changing Seasons on the Patios at Mesón Sabika / 11:30AM to 9PM / Find a choice in patios at Mesón Sabika to sample Spanish tapas and delicious sangria for lunch and dinner. Located just west of downtown Naperville at 1025 Aurora Avenue, Mesón Sabika has been serving the community since 1990. When strolling the Riverwalk, look for bronze plaques that help tell the story of this community’s can-do spirit to create the Riverwalk Park along the DuPage River. In 2021, dozens of commemorative plaques from Main Street to Jefferson Avenue were restored by the Riverwalk Foundation.
