Sales Focus – Social media can heat up your sales

-

The beauty of social media is it is so fast moving, you can try several campaigns every six days and determine which ones work best. Then repeat the best ones to ensure you meet your social media goals.

We all have lots of content to post including videos, info graphics, presentations, brochures, email series, and photographs. At Naperville Senior Center Adult Day Services (NSC), the business I’ll be using for examples throughout this column, they have over 29,000 photographs! Who needs that many?

A few weeks ago, I attended a workshop on digital marketing at the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce. The five things the presenter mentioned we should focus on when posting are:

Educate: There are so many opportunities to educate in the senior category. “Did you know the first day of fall is International Falls Prevention and Awareness Day? Falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries for older Americans. One in four older adults falls each year.” The goal is to prevent falls. But, we still want fall to begin on September 21!

Inform: What is it you want your ideal client to know about your business? “Naperville Senior Center’s fun, member-centered activities create an engaging community. We provide our Members dignity, purposefulness, and inclusion. Our Members look forward to socialization, exercise, movement, and meals that accommodate any dietary need. Caregivers reduce their stress and anxiety about their loved one and find calmness with the support of our caring staff of medical professionals.” You worked hard to develop your mission statement and core values; inform your future customers what you do.

Entertain: By posting pictures or videos, it is easy to entertain. Unless your mealtime coincides with a theme, nobody wants to see pictures of lunch or dinner. NSC has dozens of activities which provide lots of entertaining content including Birthday Parties, Oscar Awards, Relay For Life Cancer Fundraiser, NSC Anniversary Party, and the NSC Olympics.

Inspire: The best way to inspire might be with a testimonial. “Naperville Senior Center goes above and beyond to create such special programs for seniors! You bring such joy and happiness to your Members and their families. God bless you for all you kindly do.” ~ Charlene & Denise. Inspiration like this resulted in the phone ringing over two dozen times. When the phone stops ringing because of this, post it again.

Promote: Always have a call to action when your posts promote your business or brand. “Call now to schedule a FREE Trial.” “Click Here to download our awesome brochure.” If you do not ask the folks viewing your post to do something, it is like going on a sales call and not asking for the sale. “Pick up the phone to schedule a FREE Trial.”
