August events at Naper Settlement

Naper Settlement presents the following events and programs during August 2023. The museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10AM-4PM and Sunday from 1-4PM with general museum admission $12 for adults (13+), $10 for seniors (62+), and $8 for youth (4-12). Naperville residents with proof of residency, children under 4, and members receive complimentary admission.

Town and Gown Walking Tour

Thursday, August 3 & 24 • 5:30-6:30PM / $15/person; free for children under 4

Explore the east side of downtown Naperville and learn about the ways the community developed along with North Central College. The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and covers about two miles. Open to all ages. Pre-registration is required.

Downtown Naperville Architecture Walking Tour

Thursday, August 10 & 31 • 5:30-6:30PM / $15/person; free for children under 4

Learn about the important and interesting architecture from the 1800s to today that makes downtown Naperville a beautiful place to live, work, and play. The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and covers about two miles. Open to all ages. Pre-registration is required.

Fix It Friday: Visible Mending with BERNINA of Naperville

Friday, August 11 • 8:30-10AM / $15/adult (18+)

Transform an old sweater, dress, denim, and more into its own work of art by using a sewing machine’s decorative stitches to enhance those “undesirable imperfections” and show them off. In this hands-on training with BERNINA of Naperville, you will learn how to use a sewing machine’s decorative stitches and get the best results with interfacing and stabilizer.

Origins of Naperville Walking Tour

Thursday, August 17 • 5:30-6:30PM / $15/person; free for children under 4

Listen to stories from Naperville’s founding to the generosity of Caroline Martin Mitchell on a walking tour of the west side of downtown Naperville. The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and covers about two miles. Open to all ages. Pre-registration is required.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Historian: It Came From the Skies

Thursday, August 17 • 6-7PM / $10/person

While humans think they are in control of their fate, Mother Nature often has other ideas. During this presentation, participants will learn about weather disasters and what they can tell us about life in northern Illinois.

Naper Nights Community Concert Series

Friday, August 18 & Saturday, August 19 • 5-10PM / $20/adult (13+), $15/youth (4-12)

Get ready for cold drinks, great food, and fabulous music! Naper Nights continues on August 18 with a Neil Young tribute by Johnny V’s Heart of Gold Band and a tribute to John Prine by Prine Time. August 19 will include a tribute to Dixie Chicks by Gaslighter and a Taylor Swift tribute by Sparks Fly. For more information and tickets, visit NaperNights.org.

Sundae Sunday

Sunday, August 20 • 1-4PM / Included in General Admission

Visit Naper Settlement for an ice cream treat that is sure to sweeten your Sunday! Ice cream is first-come, first-served while supplies last.

Naper Settlement is a nationally accredited, award-winning outdoor living history museum set on 13 magnificent acres in the heart of Naperville.
