At 8:11AM on Wed., May 10, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a call from a contractor in the area reporting black smoke from the roof of a single-family home located in the 800 block of Cardiff Road. Naperville 911 (PSAP) dispatched a general alarm assignment consisting of 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel, including an Incident Commander and Incident Safety Officer, to the reported address.
At 8:15AM, the first vehicle arrived on the scene and found smoke from the roof. They immediately stretched hose lines and began searching for potential victims. As fire crews made their way to the second story, they encountered areas where the fire had completely burned through the floor.
Companies confirmed that all residents were out of the home.
At 8:33AM, the fire was deemed under control.
Fire companies remained on the scene for another 90 minutes to ensure all hot spots were extinguished. The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
There were no injuries to any occupants or firefighters while operating on scene. The building was deemed to be uninhabitable by the Naperville Transportation, Engineering,
and Development Team.
The blaze is estimated to have caused $250,000 in damage.
