1: a tightly packed crowd of people
2: a walk, march or hike with a backpack July 2 at the Naperville Salute
The 2023 Naperville Salute Ruck March is a five-mile brisk walk or march to celebrate our Veterans and troops around the world. After the Ruck, participants can enjoy food, drinks, music and family entertainment on Rotary Hill.
The 2nd Annual Ruck will begin at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion and conclude at Rotary Hill July 2. The cost is $30/person with registration beginning at 8:30AM and festivities beginning at 10AM.
According to www.goruck.com: “You wear a backpack and walk, it’s a fitness thing. Rucking is the action of walking with weight on your back. Walking with a weighted rucksack (aka backpack) is a low impact exercise based on military training workouts. Hiking is rucking in the mountains and urban hiking is simply called rucking. You’ve probably even spent time rucking – traveling, bringing books to school, or on your commute to work. Carrying weight is a necessary part of life, and as it turns out, humans are naturally good at it, too.”
