Naperville Police investigate targeted incident on city’s westside, seek information

On Sunday, April 30, 2023, at approximately 12:45AM, Naperville Police Officers responded to the 1500 block of West Jefferson to a report of a fight in progress as well as shots fired.

Responding officers located a victim who had been injured from being battered and found no one that had been struck by gunfire. The alleged offenders had fled the area prior to the police response in an unknown vehicle. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim of the battery had been involved in some type of dispute prior to this incident and was targeted as a result. He was confronted by multiple people upon arriving at his residence who battered him with a shot being fired.

It is unclear currently as to the intent of the gunfire. The victim of this incident was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

This incident is currently under investigation and there is no additional information that can be provided as of now.
