Update, May 2, 2023 / When those friends from another galaxy arrive, the weather is supposed to be sunny and bright from 6:30 to 8PM in downtown Naperville. Come join The Force on May the Fourth with plenty of photo opportunities.
Original Post, April 13, 2023 / The Force will be strong in Downtown Naperville on Thurs., May 4, as costumed characters from a galaxy far, far away will take over Water Street from Main to Webster streets for a free family-friendly meet and greet from 6:30PM-8PM. Unlike last year when the attractive event was one hour, this year’s event has been extended to 90 minutes. On May the Fourth, “visit Downtown Naperville, you must!” organizers said.
This special event, now named “Characters on Water Street,” is the second year the Downtown Naperville Alliance has partnered with the 501st Midwest Garrison (a chapter of the 501st Legion and community organization dedicated to giving back to local organizations with their passion and dedication to the characters they portray) for this event.
“While the 501st Legion was initially founded to unite costumers with a penchant for Star Wars villainy, one of our real-world missions is to bring good to our communities through volunteer charity work,” noted Ted Ruler, member of the 501st Midwest Garrison. “The 501st is always looking for opportunities to brighten the lives of the less fortunate and to bring awareness to positive causes on both a local and global scale.”
When it comes to free family fun with characters in Downtown Naperville… organizers proclaim, “This is the way!”
