Be prepared for severe weather this week

Update, April 2, 2023 / Mindful of local storms and damage from Friday, note that another severe weather outbreak in the Midwest could repeat dangerously high winds and produce strong tornadoes on Tues., April 4. Stay tuned to the forecast and other updates on The Weather Channel. 

Original Post, March 31, 2023 / The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the Naperville area and northern Illinois for late Friday afternoon into this evening.

Weather hazards expected are significant thunderstorms with an elevated tornado risk. Golf ball size hail and damaging wind gusts up to 80 mph are also expected. 

All residents are reminded to stay safe and take extra precautions late Friday afternoon into the evening.

From the National Weather Service:

A robust early spring storm system will track across the Midwest and into the Great Lakes region today. A significant severe threat exists across the area this afternoon through mid evening. All severe weather hazards are possible, including significant damaging winds and strong tornadoes. Stay up to date with the latest forecast information.

A period of strong non-thunderstorm winds to around 50 mph is expected late this afternoon and into Saturday morning. At this time, the strongest winds are favored to be south of I-80 this afternoon and near the Wisconsin line late tonight.
