Beginning the week of April 3, the City of Naperville will begin maintenance work on the Van Buren parking deck, located at 43 W. Van Buren Ave., as part of the downtown parking deck maintenance program. Work will take place in five phases. Pending weather and unforeseen circumstances, all work should be complete, and all parking spaces reopened by the end of November 2023.

Beginning the week of April 3, the City of Naperville, in partnership with J.Gill and Company, will begin a five-phase project to repair the Van Buren parking deck. The project will consist of repairs to tee flanges, tee stems, beams, columns and walls. Additionally, work will also include replacement of floor sealants, expansion joints, traffic bearing membrane, floor drains, and other miscellaneous repairs on the upper and middle levels of the parking structure. Crews will work on one deck level per phase, with the first phase of work beginning on the fifth level of the deck. Crews will work their way down each level, with each phase taking approximately five to six weeks to complete.

Certain parking levels closed as work is performed

Due to the nature of the work, no parking will be available on the level where work is being performed. In addition, portions of the floor directly under the work will be closed for safety. Traffic devices will be in place to direct motorists through the areas closed for construction.

Follow posted signs that designate detours and closures

Crews will work Monday through Friday between 7AM to 4PM. Unless otherwise noted, staff will work with the contractor to open as much available parking as possible for use on Saturdays and Sundays. Visitors should follow all posted detour and closure signs and use caution while accessing the parking deck. As a reminder, overnight parking is prohibited in the Van Buren parking deck on Sundays.
