March is a month for many things and for the sports lover, it is “March Madness”! There has always been a lot of alliteration when it comes to this time of year leading up to the ”Final Four.” Before that you have the “Sweet Sixteen” and then the “Elite Eight,” all resulting in only one champion, however.
And when you talk about champion, and especially a local sports celebrity, it would be Candace Parker. In Century Walk’s tribute to her b-ball prowess, she is shown not with a basketball in hand, but teeing off at Naperville Country Club in the Mural on the north side of Sullivan‘s titled “Naperville Sports Notables.”
So please take time and check her out and the other Naperville high school sports notables who are also depicted there. You will be surprised with the amount of national and international talent that is represented.
And oh, yes, the person cheering her on off to the right is none other than her brother Anthony who also distinguished himself on the professional hoops court and is probably thinking “fore” rather than “swish“!
