Naper Settlement March 2023 Events and Programs

Naper Settlement is prepared to present the following events and programs during March 2023. The museum is open from 10AM-4PM Tuesday through Friday with general museum admission $6 for adults (13+), $5 for seniors (62+), and $4 for youth (4-12). Naperville residents with proof of residency, children under 4, and members receive complimentary admission.

“Inspiring Curiosity” Exhibit

On view through Friday, April 7 / Included in general admission

Naper Settlement in collaboration with the Naperville Art League are pleased to present the exhibit, “Inspiring Curiosity,” featuring over 60 works of art by Naperville Art League members. On view at Naper Settlement, the exhibit features 36 local artists’ paintings, drawings, photographic images, and more based on the theme of curiosity.

Education Volunteer Informational Meeting

Thursday, March 9 • 6-7 PM / Free virtual meeting on Zoom

Naper Settlement invites those interested in becoming an Education Volunteer at the museum to attend a virtual informational meeting on Zoom to learn more about the position. To sign up for the meeting or for more information, please email NSteenadult@naperville.il.us.

Joe Naper’s Discovery Play: Shapes

Tuesday, March 14 • 10:30AM-12PM

$15/child (3-5), $12/adult, adult members: free | Register

Children ages 3-5 and their adults are invited to join Naper Settlement for Joe Naper’s Discovery Play. This program engages curious pre-school aged children through social engagement and learning. The museum’s Learning Experiences Team will guide children and their caregivers through fun activities and explorations based on the theme of shapes. Pre-registration is required.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Historian: Solving Problems Men Couldn’t: The Surprising Impact of Women Philanthropists

Thursday, March 16 • 6-7PM

$10/person | Register

Learn about fascinating topics in history and hear museum staff and occasional guest historians debate challenging questions. This session’s theme is “Solving Problems Men Couldn’t: The Surprising Impact of Women Philanthropists.”

Recollection Roundtable: Music and Motion

Tuesday, March 21 • 2-3PM 

$15/adult | Register

Recollection Roundtable engages local seniors with theme-based artifacts and images from the museum’s collection. The goal of each visit is to provide opportunities for seniors to recollect the past and share memories with other seniors, their guests, and museum staff. In addition, Naper Settlement will also offer opportunities for seniors to record oral histories. This session’s theme is music and motion-listen to hits of the past and get groovy! 

Tavern Trivia: Spring Tea

Thursday, March 23 • 7-9PM

$20/adult (21+) | Register

Naper Settlement’s staff wants to see how much you know about women’s history in America! Enjoy tea and sweet treats while playing a rousing game of series trivia, set amidst a village flower show. Feel free to get in the spirit of the day and wear your best hat, gloves, and accessories, either historic or contemporary! Trivia teams are limited to four people; join as a team or as individuals. Pre-registration is required. Must be 21+ to participate.

Scouts Spring Fling

Sunday, March 26 • 1-4PM 

$13/scout; $10/adult | Register

Welcome warmer weather and shake off cabin fever during Naper Settlement’s annual tribute to the changing seasons. Explore the museum’s historic buildings, talk with costumed interpreters, create a fun Spring craft, and learn how to build teamwork with your troops! Scouts receive a fun patch in honor of this event. The program is suitable for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of all ages. Pre-registration is required.

Spring Break Mini Camp

March 27, 29, & 30 • 1-3PM 

$25/child (grades 1-6) | Register

Ready for a break, but not quite ready for summer? Come to Naper Settlement for a day of Spring Break fun and adventure during one or all three of the museum’s Spring Break Mini Camps! Explore historic houses, make crafts, play exciting games, explore the great outdoors, and more. Pre-registration is required.

Joe Naper’s Discovery Play: Pets

Weed Ladies Spring Preview

Thursday, March 30 & Friday, March 31 • 10AM-3:30PM / Free to attend

The Weed Ladies Spring Preview features creative seasonal floral arrangements for sale. Each one-of-a-kind silk or dried floral creation has been designed by the Weed Ladies of the Naperville Heritage Society volunteer group. Proceeds benefit the Naperville Heritage Society. Admission to the Spring Preview is free. Please enter the Pre-Emption House Visitor Center and inform the Guest Services Team that you are attending the Spring Preview.
