West Suburban Irish plan ‘Sham-Rocker’

-

Playing off the symbolic St. Patrick’s shamrock, the West Suburban Irish will host a new event to raise a little green for their nonprofit organization.

From 3PM until close on Sun. Feb. 26, fun, frolic and live music will be celebrated during the inaugural Sham-Rocker at Quigley’s Irish Pub.

“This first-time event will benefit The Nora Moran Marovich Award which is awarded to local high school students to help with higher education costs, the Irish Mass which will be held March 6 at St. Thomas Church and the St. Patrick’s Parade on March 11,” said chairperson Colleen Wronski, noting that Sham-Rocker will take the place of the Emerald Dinner, formerly held the last Saturday in February.

In addition, the new event will help support monthly WSI Quiz Nights and Irish music sessions, also held monthly at Quigley’s, Wronki said.

Live music will feature STEAM Irish Music from 4PM to 5:30PM and Paddy Homan from 6PM to 8PM. McNulty Irish Dancers also will perform.

The price of admission is $60 per person. Admission includes choice of sandwich: (Reuben, Pub Club with chicken, Veggie Wrap, Killarney Burger or Fish & Chips) to be specified at time of paid registration.

Admission also includes one drink ticket for a Guinness, Harp, Magners, Miller Lite or Coors Lite or a glass of house wine.

Cash bar will be available after first drink.

Three snugs at Quigley’s will be available and reserved for the evening at $500 each and will include four (4) tickets to the event.

All other seating is first come, first serve.

Upon arrival to the Sham-Rocker, guests will check in at the front door to receive tickets.

And, of course, the public is welcome to attend this pub event.

Editor’s Note / For 30 years, traditions have arrived on the scene locally to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, thanks to the fun-loving West Suburban Irish, hosts of the annual St. Patrick’s Parade. The 2023 parade immediately will follow the Rotary Sunrise St. Paddy’s Day 5K. The parade steps off at 10AM Sat., March 11, 2023. This year’s Grand Marshal will be John Drohan. Sláinte!
