The longtime tradition of TubaChristmas returned to the front of US Bank in downtown Naperville on December 10. TubaChristmas 2022 marks the 49th anniversary for concerts and tuba events which are presented throughout the world. The idea for the popular concert was conceived in 1974 by Harvey Phillips as a tribute to his teacher and mentor William J. Bell, born on Christmas Day, 1902.
Many tuba and euphonium players in Naperville’s TubaChristmas 2022 wore knitted caps emblazoned with commemorative buttons representing their participation in former TubaChristmas performances. In addition to Naperville, Wisconsin, Indiana and many suburban communities were represented on Dec. 10 in the big yard in front of US Bank.
Let there be more traditional music and Christmas carols when the Naperville Municipal Band takes the stage at 3PM Sun., Dec. 11, for its annual Holiday Concert at Wentz Concert Hall in the North Central College Performing and Fine Arts Center.
