The Y – Annual Interfaith Community Breakfast is back, and it’s in person

-

Happy holiday season, Napervillians! Can you even believe Thanksgiving is right around the corner? And then, before you know it, the December holidays will be over, and it’ll be 2023… Whew!

But before we jump that far ahead, let’s talk about all the merriment that’s upcoming at the YMCA in the interim, along with some recent programming highlights.

On Fri., Dec. 9, the Fry Family YMCA will host the 2022 edition of the annual Mayor’s Interfaith Community Breakfast. And for the first time since 2019, we’ll be back in person!

We are so looking forward to seeing our friends and neighbors all in one place as we gather to celebrate the promise of hope and informally kick off the holiday season. In addition to the many notable civic and business leaders participating in the event—including, of course, the eponymous mayor, Steve Chirico—beloved Naperville community member Tom Beerntsen will serve as our keynote speaker.

Those of you caught up on your Naperville history will remember that Tom served as CEO of the Heritage YMCA and that he was a longtime columnist for Positively Naperville. We are grateful for Tom’s participation at the breakfast and also anticipatorily grateful for his remarks, which are sure to be inspirational and timely.

We hope you will be able to join us on December 9! You can register to take part in the celebration or learn more about sponsorship opportunities online at ymcachicago.org/fry. Thank you to our Event Sponsor Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home for their continued and generous support of this event.

In other Naperville Y Updates:

Thank you to our members, friends, and neighbors for participating in the Fry Family Y’s Halloween trunk-or-treat celebration. We loved seeing all of your fun and spooky costumes, along with your decorated trunks.

Thanks, also, to everyone who stopped by the ribbon cutting event for the new locker rooms in October. The opportunity to unveil the overhauled facilities and celebrate our supporters made for a very special evening.

And finally, don’t forget about the opportunity to purchase a Kroehler YMCA commemorative brick! Not only will you own a piece of Naperville history, but you’ll also be supporting the Y’s future ability to provide programs and services to the Naperville community.
