Naperville Gardener – Super Power of the Month… I can bake cookies! Lots of cookies!

-

The best display of cookies that you will ever see will be at the Holiday Market of the Naperville Garden Club’s Cup of Cheer™. Held on Thurs., Dec. 1 and Fri., Dec. 2, 2022, this event features a House Walk of four homes decorated for the holidays, a Holiday Market where you can shop for unique seasonal gifts and a Tea where you will receive a commemorative teacup and saucer or mug and enjoy a variety of cookies-baked for you with love by members of the Naperville Garden Club.

Each member bakes seven dozen cookies for the Tea and to encourage our members to bake their best, we have a “Cookie Contest.” Look for the top ten cookies that will be displayed at the Holiday Market and, hopefully, mine will be one of them. Seven dozen cookies is 84 cookies and there are years that I have baked for two of my sister garden club members making my total 252 cookies. That’s a lot of cookies! Just to see and eat our cookies is worth the price of admission to this event. The Holiday Market (including raffle items) and Tea are hosted at the VFW on Jackson Ave.

Tickets are sold on our website, napervillegardenclub.org, and at Nona Jo’s (410 W, Fifth Ave.), both GreenState Credit Union locations (Book Rd./75th Street and Rt. 59/ 83rd St.) and The Growing Place, Naperville location only (25 W. 471 Plank Road). Tickets are $55 for Thursday (we promise no waiting in line!) and $40 for Friday. Proceeds help us provide educational opportunities, community projects and college scholarships. This is our 60th year of Cup of Cheer™ and we would like to share it with you.

Our November program features local florist, Lesa Attea, of Celidan Creations on Gartner.
