Magical Starlight Theatre, a program of the Naperville Park District, will hold auditions for its January 2023 musical, “Matilda,” on Sat., Oct. 22, and Sun., Oct. 23, at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, 305 W. Jackson Avenue.

“The musical is based on the beloved children’s book by Roald Dahl with a whimsical magic element that will be delightful to bring to life onstage,” said Artistic Director Emily Walker. “The story shows how one good teacher can make all the difference in a child’s life.”

Lead and supporting roles are available for youth in fourth grade or higher and for adults of all ages and a strong ensemble cast also will be needed. Auditions for youth under age 16 are from 1 to 2:30PM and auditions for actors age 16 and older are 2:30-4PM both days.

No reservations needed to audition

No time reservations are needed; those auditioning will be grouped as they arrive. Call backs, if necessary, will be held at 7PM on Mon., Oct. 24.

Youth and adults are asked to prepare a specific vocal piece from “Matilda” based on the role for which they are auditioning. Vocal audition music is available at www.magicalstarlight.org/auditions/ and an accompanist will be provided at the audition.

Additionally, there is a general movement audition, a dance audition and cold reading from the script.

Matilda will be staged in January 2023 at NCHS
