Update, Oct. 2, 2022 / Naperville was represented at the dog match-up, but the Guinness World Record remained unbroken during a pawsitively sunny day at the Northwestern Medicine Field in Geneva.

All who participated in the Largest Dog Wedding Ceremony came to support two worthy causes while vendors showed their pet products and services.
Dogs were given the red carpet treatment with bowls of water all along the parade route. In the end, win or lose, the dogs were promised tastes from the tiered PetCake on display near the entrance to the ceremony.

Original Post, Sept. 24, 2022 / Naperville neighbors Deb Waite and Jen Dietz, both members of New Start Dog Rescue, invite dog owners to “walk your dog down the aisle and into history” on Sun., Oct. 2, 2022. That’s the date that’s been set for Diamonds in the Ruff to break the Guinness World Record of 178 dog “couples” getting hitched at Northwestern Medicine Field in Geneva.

Simply put, canine owners are welcome to sign up their dogs to participate, then the dogs and their owners show up and are matched up with another dog for the “puptials” ceremony, after which all dogs return home with their owners.
Promoted as “The Largest Dog Wedding Ceremony,” from 8AM to 2PM Sun., Oct. 2, the event welcomes up to 5,111 dog couples with a goal to raise $100,000 while breaking a Guinness World Record and saving the lives of rescue dogs and U.S. Veterans in the process.
Registration is $25 per dog. Thanks to generous sponsor support, every penny (That’s 100 percent!) of the registration fees will be donated to the participating animal charity groups with 50 percent going to K9s for Warriors and the remaining 50 percent being split between the other participating animal charity groups.
“Martin Rees, renowned magician and five-time Guinness record breaker will be the emcee,” emailed Dietz. “People Magazine will be there, and it will be live-streamed globally. We just need more people to register to wed their dogs so we can break the record and raise the much-needed monies for veterans and rescues.”
