The Riverwalk Fine Art Fair returns to downtown Naperville from 10AM to 5PM on Saturday, Sept. 17, and Sunday, Sept 18.
Naperville will welcome 115 artists from across the country whose work has been juried into the award-winning, 37th annual Riverwalk Fine Art Fair (RFAF). Artist booths will be along the Riverwalk and on Jackson Av., between Main and Eagle Streets. The fair will showcase a variety of original artwork including painting, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, 2-D and 3-D mixed media, photography, drawing and fiber art.
Admission is free.
According to planner and host Naperville Art League (NAL), a 501(c)3 non-profit, about 50,000 visitors are expected at the 2-day, outdoor event.
Art demos and live music will be featured
There will be art demos, and music at the Amphitheater. A food vendor will be at the east end of the fair. Staff at the Info Booth, located at the center of the fair, will help visitors with maps, purchase of the official show posters, and provide information about art classes, sponsorships, and membership.
The Riverwalk Fine Art Fair has repeatedly gained national recognition over its 37-year history. Most recently, it ranked 98th of the Best 200 in the nation by Sunshine Artist magazine.
As host, NAL engages other non-profits and local businesses through sponsorship and participation opportunities. According to RFAF director, Debbie Venezia, “This community spirit plays major role in bringing talented artists and art fair goers together. We are grateful for long-time sponsors such as Naperville Bank & Trust, and Lewis University. Sponsors also include Main Street Promenade, Renewal by Andersen, and others. The RFAF is funded in part through the City of Naperville’s SECA grant,” continued RFAF Director, Venezia.
Naperville Art League (NAL), host of the event, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit volunteer organization with over 200 artist and art enthusiast members whose creativity makes the organization new every day.
Since 1961, NAL’s mission has been to provide art instruction and education, encourage interest in all forms of creative art, and stimulate understanding and appreciation of art in the community.
The organization has impacted the Naperville community by providing classes for all ages and skill levels, presenting culturally enriching gallery shows, fostering public art, and more. In 1984, NAL was actively involved in commissioning one of the first sculptures in town: the striking 15-foot high, red sculpture just west of Eagle St. at the city’s Riverwalk entitled “Landforms” by artist Jack Arnold.
