Update, Aug. 27, 2022 / Jim Hoch reports that last night was “a super fun and successful Marine Corps Ball Fundraiser – Dance with a Hero!”
“Don O’Reilly was the surprise (and surprised) entry into the dance bidding, and beat out the hunk and other super heroes with the highest bid to score a dance with him,” emailed Hoch, who is always grateful to centenarian O’Reilly for his willingness to be a good sport in front of the camera.
“I’m not sure how they convinced Don to participate, or even if they just ushered him up to the front, but all the bidding paddles started waving in the air—what a great sight to behold!” added Hoch. “And, I think he loved it too!”

Original Post, Aug. 25, 2022 / The Naperville Marines will host a fundraiser and silent auction beginning at 7PM on Fri., Aug. 26, in advance and in support of its annual Marine Corps Ball. The theme of the event is “Win a Dance with a Hero!”
Real life heroes in uniform from the local police and fire departments as well as a few military members will be in attendance. In addition, costumed Marvel and DC superhero characters will join the festivities with their dancing shoes, prepared for partners. Both costumed and real-life heroes will be auctioned off with the highest bidder winning a dance with their hero.
Guests are encouraged to come in costume if desired. The evening will be catered by Mission BBQ and feature a “fantastic DJ and dancing for all.”
Tickets are $15. Cash bar. The fundraiser, silent auction, and 50/50 raffle are planned to support of the Marine Corps Ball, planned in November.
The cost to attend is $15 and includes dinner catered by Mission BBQ.

Annual Naperville Marines Ball is set for Sat., Nov. 5
For 2022, the Naperville Marines Ball will begin at 5PM on Sat., Nov. 5, organizers said. (Note the change: In the past, the annual event has been held on the Marines Birthday, Nov. 10.)
