This video message from Dr. Talley highlights the start of the 2022-23 school year.

Update, Aug. 20, 2022 / On Friday, School District 204 issued information about safety via “Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate” aka ALICE…

ALICE Critical Incident Response Strategy

Dear District 204 Parent/Guardian,

We are committed to providing the safest possible learning environment for our students and staff by taking proactive steps to secure our schools. We want to ensure students and staff have a safe place to learn, work and grow. To maintain our safety standards and prepare for the societal threat of an intruder inside one of our schools, we adhere to the ALICE critical incident response strategy.

ALICE empowers individuals to use proactive options-based responses. ALICE is an acronym for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate. These proactive strategies allow decisions to be made during an emergency that will increase the level of safety until additional help arrives.

All Indian Prairie School District staff receive training on the ALICE strategies through online eLearning modules and scenario-based training conducted by an ALICE certified Instructor. We are very pleased with the combination of classroom and hands-on training that we believe is the right choice for our students, staff, schools, and community.

To help you gain an understanding of the ALICE training that school staff have gone through, I am sharing with you a link so that you can take the ALICE training for parents. By taking this course, you can gain an understanding of the ALICE principles. Additionally, we are sharing age-appropriate handouts so you know the specific safety concepts your children are learning.

If you have question, please contact Mr. Ron Wilke, School Safety, Security, and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator at Ronald_Wilke@ipsd.org

Sincerely,

Dr. Adrian B. Talley
Superintendent
