During the 3rd Annual Independence Day Kick Off hosted by Safe Suburbs USA along the Riverwalk, Will County States Attorney Jim Glasgow stood among the featured speakers for the nonpartisan grassroots initiative in support of law enforcement. Glasgow encouraged attendees to read the SAFE-T Act and to contact Illinois State Legislators and all lawmakers with any concerns. Billed as criminal law reform, the law goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2023, and aims to end cash bail. Local TV cameras were there to record the presentation, .A clip of Glasgow’s speech is featured at safesuburbsusa.com. Subsequent reports downstate also urge repeal, amendments and/or trailers to portions of the SAFE-T Act. Read the bill for the facts.
