In a written statement, DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin has announced that County Board Member Amy Chavez has resigned.
Wheaton – “Today DuPage County Board Member Amy Chavez informed me of her decision to resign from the County Board, effective August 16, 2022.
“As Economic Development Committee Chair, Member Chavez has been a strong advocate for the DuPage County business community. Her thoughtful approach and dedication to the residents of District 5 is to be commended. We thank Member Chavez for her service and wish her and her family well.”
Note about vacant County Board seat
Amy Chavez, a Naperville resident, has served as a County Board member since 2020. Her vacant seat will be filled by Chairman Cronin with the advice and consent of the County Board.
Under state election law, a new member must be appointed within 60 days of Chavez’ resignation from the Board and must be from the same political party – Chavez is a Democrat.
The newly appointed Board member will serve the remainder of Chavez’ term, which expires Dec. 5, 2022. Residents of District 5 who are interested in seeking appointment to the County Board should email a resume and letter of no more than 300 words outlining their interest to Chairman Cronin at chairman@dupageco.org.

Update, Aug. 18, 2022 / Saba Haider from Aurora reportedly has been appointed nominee to replace Amy Chavez on the ballot for a DuPage County Board seat in the November election.
