At 8:16AM on Saturday, June 18, 2022, the Naperville Police and Fire Departments responded to the intersection of Plainfield/Naperville Road and Gateshead Drive for the report of a vehicle crash. Responding units observed a silver 2008 Chevrolet Suburban which was involved in a single car collision.

The Naperville Fire Department provided emergency medical attention to the driver of the Chevrolet, who was declared deceased at the scene. The driver and only occupant of the Chevrolet was a 57-year-old man from Bolingbrook.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of the Chevrolet was traveling southbound on Plainfield/Naperville Road near Leverenz Road. As the vehicle continued southbound, it left the roadway near Gateshead Drive and struck a pole.

During the incident, two other vehicles were struck by flying debris from the collision. There were no injuries because of the flying debris.

Due to the nature of the crash, Traffic Crash Investigators from the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded to the scene to investigate. The intersection as well as parts of Plainfield/Naperville Road were closed in both directions until approximately 1PM.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any additional information is asked to contact the Naperville Police Department Traffic Unit at (630) 305-5477.

Report submitted by Commander Michaus Williams, Office of Professional Standards/Public Information Officer, for the Naperville Police Department.
