-

Above / The Business INCubator Pitch Night is set to take place at Wentz Concert Hall and Fine Arts Center, located at 171 E. Chicago Ave. on the campus of North Central College.

Student business teams from Naperville Central and Naperville North will pitch entrepreneurial ideas in a “Shark Tank-style” event from 6PM to 9PM on Wed., May 11, at the Wentz Concert Hall and Fine Arts Center, located at 171 E. Chicago Ave.

The Business INCubator Pitch Night will be held at Wentz Concert Hall.

The event begins with a student trade show from 6PM to 7PM, which will be followed by a pitch competition from 7PM to 9PM, a two-hour presentation when the students will make their pitches for the chance to obtain additional funding for their projects.

NEW this year: Be a part of the voting!

Audience members have the option to vote for a final team to pitch their business concept at Pitch Night. Those in attendance will have an opportunity to speak with the “Wild Card” teams vying to be the final team to present during the student trade show.

The event is being hosted by the Naperville Education Foundation, Naperville 203’s philanthropic fundraising arm that encourages creativity, innovation, and excellence in students by helping to ensure that every student in the district can take advantage of opportunities to make the most of their education.

The community is welcome. Admission is free of charge.

Editor’s Note / Mindful that capitalism is an economic and political system that embraces a free market for goods and services, this type of program for students likely will be a showcase of how to plan a business with private control of production and consumption. Most entrepreneurs recognize that coming up with new ideas and/or running a small, independent business are amazingly gratifying; yet, hard enough without government policies getting in the way. Cheers to good ideas that aim to fulfill unmet needs that make a difference.
