Turning Pointe Autism Foundation: Autism Acceptance Month

-

April is Autism Acceptance Month.

Previously, we referred to April as an Awareness Month. This year, Turning Pointe proudly steps into a new era of advocacy led by individuals with autism.

Many adults living with autism ask that we all move from building awareness to demanding acceptance. They express exhaustion from judgment and are ready to proclaim their value.

With 1 in 44 children diagnosed with the disorder, Turning Pointe agrees it is time we all accept our friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues living with the disorder.

Accept that individuals with autism or autistics offer a unique and vital perspective and deserve to be included in all parts of our community.

Accept that the autism spectrum includes a wide range of gifts to be celebrated and struggles to be validated.

Accept our responsibility for learning about the individuals impacted.

And take time to foster conversations with children on inclusion and acceptance.

In April, you can access global celebrations, campaigns, and activities online to expand your understanding and acceptance. And Turning Pointe Autism Foundation welcomes you locally to join our events and fundraisers. Together, we can create a kinder, more inclusive, and diverse community. Step into advocacy with us. If you’ve been curious, afraid, or too busy in the past, the time is now. We will be a partner and a guide.
