Founded in 1897, the Naperville Woman’s Club will kick off a year-long anniversary celebration on March 1, 2022. A variety of activities are planned that will highlight the club’s history and its continuing commitment to art, education, and community service.
A wreath-laying ceremony for two of the charter members will be held at Naperville Cemetery to start the observance of this important milestone. The Naperville Garden Club, founded in 1929 by Naperville Woman’s Club members, will create and donate the wreaths. The ceremony will take place at 2PM on March 1 in the Naperville Cemetery, 705 S. Washington Street, just south of Hillside Road. The public is invited. Kindly use the middle of the three entrances to the cemetery.
Following the wreath laying, a Celebratory Tea will be held in the clubhouse at 3PM where the Naperville Woman’s Club will welcome members and friends to share their storied history. The clubhouse is the club’s local landmark building in the heart of Naperville at 14 S. Washington St.
“Our club’s enduring commitment to Naperville can be seen in all of the activities we support,” noted Julie Cunningham, president of the Naperville Woman’s Club. “From our signature event, the annual Fine Art and Artisan Fair, to our Witches Night Out Naperville fundraiser to our scholarships and support of local service organizations, for 125 years, club members have volunteered their talents and time to make Naperville a better place.”
