Fort Payne announces scholarship in memory of Bettye Wehrli

The Fort Payne Chapter, NSDAR, recently announced the creation of the Bettye Wehrli Memorial Scholarship. Bettye Wehrli was a long-time community volunteer and active Fort Payne DAR member, who passed away in June 2021 after a short illness. Known for her passion regarding the U.S. Constitution, she endowed a one-time $2,000 scholarship for local area high school seniors.

The Bettye Wehrli Scholarship is open to any high school senior from Districts 203 and 204 and Benet Academy who will be matriculating to a college or university in the fall of 2022. Applicants are asked to prepare a 1,000-word essay on the importance of the U.S. Constitution and submit it along with other needed documents to nsdarfortpayne@gmail.com no later than March 1, 2022.
