Although the winter scene at Centennial Beach in February may look more inviting to a polar bear than to its usual patrons, preparations are underway for a full summer season of swimming and fun for the Naperville community.
Lifeguards wanted to apply for summer 2022
Naperville Park District staff began conducting interviews for lifeguards and other Beach staff in January and the application process continues until positions are filled.
“We are pleased that many staff members from last year are returning for the 2022 season,” said Aquatic Manager Jackie Gonzalez. “We currently have openings for lifeguards—for both full facility guards and shallow water guards. Those 16 years of age and older are encouraged to learn more and apply at www.napervilleparks.org/employment.”
Care and maintenance planned for April
After a successful 2021 summer season at Centennial Beach following the 2020 closure due to the pandemic, Naperville Park District will prepare the Beach for a full summer season this year. Preparations include draining the water in late March, cleaning and maintaining the entire Beach property in the month of April, and refilling the quarry with fresh water toward the end of April, so that lifeguard training may begin in early May.
