At approximately 8:30AM today, Feb. 4, 2022, Naperville Police Officers responded to an apartment complex on the 900 block of Fairway Drive for a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
Responding officers located the victim, who was transported to an area hospital and pronounced deceased. Officers quickly developed a lead on a possible suspect, who was taken into custody at approximately 3:52PM, following an hours-long standoff with police at an apartment building on the same block that the incident occurred.
Preliminary investigation indicates the victim and the person of interest knew each other and that this was not a random incident. This remains an ongoing investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
The DuPage County Coroner’s Office is also conducting their investigation into this incident and additional information from their office will not be available until tomorrow at the earliest.
Residents in the immediate area were contacted by police and notified to stay inside their homes as this incident unfolded.
