Santa Claus & the Leprechaun visit Quigley’s Irish Pub

-

If it’s the second Sunday in December between the hours of 11AM and 2PM, families know it’s likely Santa Claus has scheduled a visit to Quigley’s Irish Pub with his sidekick Leprechaun.

Though Santa missed his visit in 2020, he didn’t skip an Irish jig for 2021. The jolly old elf was eager to return where he welcomed families to bring their own cameras, bring their own holiday attire (Plaids were especially popular this year.) and bring their own smiles!

This thoughtful little girl waited patiently with her younger brother for her turn to visit Santa. Then Santa listened to everything on her mind. Thanks, Santa!

What’s more, before, in between and after Santa had visited with youngsters inside, he was available for folks to bring their pets to take photos outside on the patio, weather permitting. And with the luck of the Irish, weather was permitting; sunny and bright, with temperatures in the mid-40s.

Folks began arriving with their pets for photos at 10AM, and by 11AM families had lined up inside, prepared to wait for personal time and a photo session with Santa in front of the hearth in the Cigar Room.

During this season of love and giving, Santa listened attentively to youngsters of all ages who wanted to share their wish lists.

More than a few times when Santa was wrapping up the photo session, he wondered out loud, “Do you know what my favorite Christmas song is?”

Whether the youngsters guessed correctly or not, next thing Santa asked was for the family to join him by singing a round of “Jingle Bells.”

PN’s camera left just before noon amid joyful sounds throughout the pub, jingle all the way.

The Sunday staff at Quigley’s Irish Pub wishes a happy holiday season to all.

Nollaig shona dhuit! (Merry Christmas!)

Merry Christmas in Gaelic Irish is “Nollaig Shona,” pronounced “null-ig hunna.” Folks say Nollaig Shona when greeting one person.

The more popular greeting is “Nollaig shona duit/daoibh,” pronounced “null-ig hunna ditch/d-eve,” and that means “Merry Christmas to everyone!”

Celebrate Irish New Year’s Eve until 8PM Dec. 31

Irish Sessions, an entertaining gathering of musicians sharing tunes and quips with instrumental tunes (and sometimes songs), was inspired by the West Suburban Irish, the nonprofit organization that calls Quigley’s Irish Pub its home. Typically, Sessions is held on the third Wednesday of the month. This week it begins at 7PM Wed., Dec. 15.

North Central College vs. Mary Hardin-Baylor NCAA Division III Football Championship 2021 Stagg Bowl Game Watch Party begins at 6PM Fri., Dec. 17. Cheer on the undefeated North Central College Cardinals. Please note game audio not available due to a band playing in the pub. Go, Cardinals!

With music events featuring live bands most Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at Quigley’s Irish Pub from now through the end of the year, the next special event is the annual Irish New Year’s Eve, celebrated with a countdown and a toast at 6PM, Fri., Dec. 31, 2021. That’s Midnight in Dublin. Cirrus Falcon will perform from 3PM to 7PM.

No reservations accepted. Lights out at 8PM. Happy 2022!

Quigley’s Irish Pub is located at 43 E. Jefferson Avenue in downtown Naperville. For more information about EDAQ, Every Day at Quigley’s, visit www.quigleysirishpub.com.

Cheers to good health! Celebrate safely. Sláinte!
