It seems beyond hard to believe that we are in the middle of our holiday season. By the time this goes to print, Thanksgiving will have past with more holidays ahead during the month of December. Regardless of what you choose to celebrate, we wish you and your family only the best of times in the days ahead.
Part of what comes with every holiday is a set of traditions that provides joy and happiness. One of the traditions that Little Friends has done for years is our “Giving Tree” program. Each year, across town involving various local businesses, we have our “Giving Trees” located in their lobby. Each decorated tree has placed on it cards tree ornaments. What makes each card special is that inside the card is a request from one of the adults or children we care for indicating what they would like for Christmas.
The way that that the Giving Tree works is that someone decides to fulfill the wish that is on the card. The item typically is purchased and wrapped as a gift. Once wrapped, the gift is either brought back to the store where the card was taken or if easier it can be dropped off at Little Friends. What we do is collect everything that is requested and coordinate getting the respective gifts to the people who made the request.
It sounds so simple; yet, there are so many people to thank for these incredible gestures of kindness and support. To all the people who were kind enough to take a card and buy a gift for those who needed help, thank you so much! To all the businesses who chose to help us with having a tree in your lobby, thank you for making this happen! Last, I would be remiss not to thank those from the Little Friends team who coordinated all the logistics to get all the presents to the right people, thank you!!!
The Giving Tree is a tradition at Little Friends I hope continues for years to come. We get reminded about how supportive and kind people are. Thank you again for all that you do to help those we serve.
Happy holidays to you and your family!
