Above / Brody, a rough coated collie, was a Lizzy Fund Therapy Dog that passed away at age 13 this past July 1, 2021. He was the commensurate senior ambassador and therapy dog.
November is Senior Pet Month. To celebrate, Lizzy’s Fund is paying the adoption fees at participating shelters and rescues in order to find homes for senior dogs. The Fund also is supplying the new adoptive family with a senior blood panel.
Lizzy’s Fund is a local 501(c)(3) charity that financially supports senior dogs in shelters and rescues. Most dogs enter their senior years when they’re around 7 years old—a little sooner for larger breeds and later for smaller ones.
Originally established in 2012, Lizzy’s Fund pays for all medical, dental, surgical, grooming and alternative medical care for seasoned canines that unfortunately end up in shelters and rescues through no fault of their own. Heightening awareness about the benefits of senior dog companions and the options for their quality care, the mission of Lizzy’s Fund is to help these dogs get healthy and find loving forever homes.
In addition, a Lizzy’s Fund benefactor is generously matching 100 percent of all donations made to the Fund during the month of November. All donations made by November 30, 2021, will be doubled.
