Update, Oct. 28, 2021 / Standing next to Loaves & Fishes Community Services CEO & President Mike Havala, Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin expressed his upmost approval when Loaves & Fishes, founded and homebased in Naperville, celebrated its new Food Distribution Hub during its open house at 580 Exchange Court, Aurora.

The addition of this building will substantially increase the number of families served, expand the L&F geographic service area throughout four counties, increase the amount of healthy food offered, and provide an omnichannel distribution for clients. Original Post, Oct. 19, 2021 / Loaves & Fishes Community Services invites the public to join them for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of their new food distribution hub.  The festivities will take place beginning at 3PM on Wed., Oct. 27, at 580 Exchange Court in Aurora, IL.

Loaves & Fishes will be opening its doors to a new facility that will help serve a substantial amount of unmet need in our community. This additional location will expand Loaves & Fishes geographic service area to Kane and Kendall counties in addition to DuPage and Will.

The hub will act as a distribution, storage, processing, and fulfillment center providing food to its spokes such as the Loaves & Fishes shopping market at 1871 High Grove Lane, its satellite location in Bolingbrook, as well as their home delivery program to home-bound seniors.

The new hub-and-spoke model will provide more options for clients to receive food.

“Families will be able to get the food they need by shopping in our market, picking up food in curbside service format, and through our soon to come online ordering system,” noted Mike Havala, President and CEO of Loaves & Fishes.

The new facility has substantial cold storage space that increases the capacity for fresh produce and dairy and extra sorting space for healthy food rescue. Curbside pick-up and online ordering will also take place at this location.

“This opening of our new facility and evolution to a hub-and-spoke model are game changers for Loaves & Fishes and our community,” added Havala. “Together, we are truly making a lasting impact for years to come.”
