UPDATE, Jan. 11, 2022 / During the Jan. 10, 2022, regularly-scheduled School District 204 Board of Education meeting, elected school board members voted unanimously in support of boundary adjustments presented by the School District 204 Administration.
The nearly 3-hour meeting, complete with 60 minutes of public comments, is available for public viewing in its entirety by clicking here. Twenty-five speakers had signed up to speak for up to three minutes each. Because some speakers didn’t use all of their three minutes allotted, 21 speakers presented their opinions.
To prevent hearsay and comments taken out of context, the public always is encouraged to pay attention to public meetings and workshops hosted by local school districts and other governing bodies.
FYI: Currently a shortage of substitute teachers and bus drivers exists throughout School District 204. For information, contact the school district at (630) 375-3000 or via email.
On Wednesday night, the Indian Prairie School District Boundary Committee met to continue the process of evaluating concepts and reviewing information related to boundary adjustments. RSP & Associates facilitated the meeting in which they presented the benefits and drawbacks of previously viewed concepts. Committee members then compared versions of modified concepts.
The discussion focused on feeder systems for all three high schools, socioeconomic factors in each school building, special programming, access to services for students, and the number of students impacted by the boundary changes.
As a reminder, the boundary adjustment process is ongoing. Concepts that are discussed during the boundary meetings are not proposals for boundary adjustments. However, each and every option must be evaluated in order for the process to move forward.
The boundary committee meetings are open to the public for observation only. Public comment is not part of boundary committee meetings. There will also be an opportunity for community members to view concepts and provide feedback before the final proposals are created and presented to the board of education. The community’s feedback will be incorporated into the final proposals that will be presented to the board of education for approval.
