Original Post, Sept. 6, 2021 / It’s hard to believe that fall is right around the corner! And the thing we look most forward to is opening our doors in early fall, to showcase ourselves and give Naperville residents a glimpse into all that is the Naperville Fire Department and Naperville Police Department. So, for the first time in 2 years, I am thrilled to announce that we will be hosting our annual Public Safety Open House! This year’s event will take place on:

  • 10AM-2PM Sat., Sept. 25, 2021 Rain date: 10AM-2PM Sun., Sept. 26, 2021
  • Public Safety Campus – 1380 Aurora Avenue at River Road
  • Parking available at Safety Town and the church across the street

This event is perfect for families and scouts!

Learn about the City of Naperville Prescription Drug Drop Box Program that allows the public to safely and anonymously dispose of unused prescription drugs. Note! Never flush drugs down the toilet.

The purpose of this event is to disseminate important crime and fire prevention information to the residents of Naperville and to encourage citizen action regarding crime and fire prevention strategies.

A large display of Fire and Police vehicles and equipment also will be on-site.

Both departments firmly believe that citizens are the number one defense against fire and crime and want to spread the word that residents need to “Prepare, Practice and Prevent” to keep their families safe.

As seen in local parades, the 1924 Ahrens-Fox, Naperville’s second piece of motorized fire apparatus, has been fully restored and will also be proudly displayed.

This must-see event will include a variety of activities including an auto extrication and simulated DUI arrest, a K-9 demonstration, taser demonstration and a flashover fire demonstration.

Have you ever wanted to see our Water Rescue Team in action? We’ll have an action-packed demo!

Do you like food trucks? We’ll have those, too!

Old favorites such as the evidence collection demonstration of fingerprint lifting and visits by Sparky and McGruff will be back again this year, as well.

The Public Safety Open House is an event the entire community will enjoy while gaining valuable safety information for their families, neighborhoods and workplaces.
