Editor’s Note / Traffic reports on the radio early last evening announced the tragic news of the “crash with injuries” and street closures along Naper Boulevard.
At the time of the crash, nearby Scott School was hosting a block party with many dozens of families in attendance. Girls’ soccer practice also was underway. Reports to local media by witnesses are that the motorcycle was traveling at a very high rate of speed, jumped the curb and crashed into a tree, resulting in the fatality.
While PN was visiting downtown Naperville shortly after hearing the traffic report on the radio, the sound of a loud motorcycle circling the streets prompted a visitor on the sidewalk to ask us, “What’s that all about?”
Several hours later the sad news release from the Naperville Police Department arrived.
Folks! Kindly talk with family, friends and neighbors about abiding by local speed limits, coming to complete stops at stop signs and following the rules of the road.
Help keep this community and every community safe. Condolences to all.
