Naperville Hispanic Heritage Festival is set for Sept. 18

-

The Naperville Hispanic Heritage Festival is planned from 6PM to 9PM Sat., Sept. 18, in Central Park, located at 104 E. Benton Avenue in downtown Naperville.

Hosted by the Naperville Sister Cities Foundation, the new event aims to celebrate Mexican culture with food, art and music while recognizing Mexican Independence Day.

“There will be a small Mexican marketplace and music in Central Park. Other events will be held downtown including a scavenger hunt with a chance to win a $100 downtown Naperville gift card. There’ll be a bilingual story time, and community art on Jackson and Eagle,” said Bill Donofrio for the Sister Cities event.

Participating downtown merchants will feature special events and food specials. For more info, visit www.napervillehispanicfest.com.

The Naperville Sister Cities Foundation partners with Nitra, Slovakia; Patzcuaro, Mexico and, most recently, Cancun, Mexico, to facilitate friendship and understanding between Naperville residents and those cities.

An ombudsman is Scandinavian in origin dating back to Viking times; and refers to a community representative; usually acting independently on behalf of an organization, body of elected officials, or civic group. Thanks Scandinavia for inventing ombudsman.
