‘Welcome Home Banquet’ is set for Sept. 11

Above / Wayne Fischer of Naperville served as a Marine helicopter pilot in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. Memorial Day finds the dedicated Veteran honoring the fallen during ceremonies in Naperville, Illinois. Recently Fischer began serving as Department of Illinois American Legion Commander.

Local Veterans’ organizations will host a “Welcome Home Banquet” for Naperville resident and American Legion Department of Illinois Commander Wayne Fischer during social festivities set to begin at 5PM, followed by dinner at 6PM, Sat., Sept. 11. The reception dinner with entertainment is being planned at the Hilton Double Tree in Lisle.

The longstanding tradition to kick off the new commander’s year aims to honor Fischer as a “steadfast supporter of Veterans and Veteran causes in the Naperville community, Statewide, and Nationally,” organizers said. 

All American Legion members, VFW members, and the public are invited to honor the new Department Commander for the State of Illinois.
 
The cost is $40 per person. Meal choices include Sliced Strip Beef Loin, Sautéed Chicken and Spinach Cheese Ravioli.

Reservations are required by Sept. 6, 2021. Kindly send payment with meal choice to Iris Fischer at 212 Winslow Court, Naperville IL 60565.

The Hilton Double Tree is located at 3003 Corporate W Drive in Lisle.
