Dear District 204 Community,
Welcome to the start of the 2021-2022 school year!
I am pleased that we are able to start the school year in-person this year and welcome our students back into our buildings. We are trying to be as pre-pandemic as possible with our efforts; however, we know that the pandemic is not over. We will continue to review our plans and adjust as necessary. As I’ve stated previously, our goal is for our students to be in school and stay in school. We want to reduce the number of quarantine cases and want to ensure that our doors are open each day for students to be in-person.
I ask you to think about where we were last year and where we are this year. Our students will be in school, and they will be learning. Volunteers will be in the schools and PTAs can have their meetings in the schools. Due to the current transmission level being HIGH, volunteers will only assist teachers and staff at this time. We will continue to assess and make changes as we can.
Our teachers and staff are ready and excited to welcome your children back to an in-person learning experience this year. We are grateful to our teachers and staff for all they have done to support our students over the past seventeen months, and all they continue to do to make this year the best possible for our students. Please watch this short gratitude video for our teachers from those who matter most – our students.
We look forward to welcoming all our students back tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Adrian B. Talley, Ed.D.
Superintendent
PN Editor’s Note / Friday, Aug. 19, an inquiry was received from a caller in a school district along the North Shore in Lake County. The caller explained she’d just finished reading this post, and went on the say she’s been told District 204 schools are providing free breakfast and lunch meals to all students. After contacting a number of members on the School District 204 Board of Education for verification, we learned that it was indeed the case.
