Fire Prevention 24-7 – Naperville is open

-

Now that the world has opened back up, the public education requests are pouring in! So, I just wanted to discuss the procedures to request a visit by your neighborhood firefighters.

Parades

The parade coordinator will designate two individuals 21-years or older, who will be Grand Marshals. Be prepared to provide names when calling.

The Grand Marshals will:

  • Be placed behind the fire apparatus
  • Remain a minimum of 20 feet from the apparatus

All other participants will remain behind the Grand Marshals.

This information is imperative to ensure the safety of all the parade participants. We’ve had a few bike parades this year, where the kids have ridden their bikes right up on the bumpers of the engines, which is extremely dangerous for all.

Block Parties

The Naperville Fire Department will visit your neighborhood block party to provide an educational presentation to both parents and children. Families are welcome to tour the vehicles after the presentation, as time allows.

Also remember that fire crews are considered “in-service” during the block party/parade, and may need to leave at a moment’s notice if dispatched to an emergency call.
A minimum of 10 days’ notice is requested to ensure our ability to participate in your event. To schedule a block party, visit, or a parade please call Fire Administration at (630) 305-5900 or email gargiulom@naperville.il.us.

Station Tours

The Naperville Fire Department conducts fire station tours for small groups Monday through Friday from 10AM to 4:30PM. Participants must be at least 5 years of age and be accompanied by an adult.

A minimum of 10 days’ notice is requested. Questions about tours can be direct to Fire Administration at (630) 305-5900 or email gargiulom@naperville.il.us.

Fire Drills

The Naperville Fire Department will supervise fire drills upon request at public buildings or businesses, while offering recommendations for improvements if necessary.

You may email: mclaughlins@naperville.il.us to set up your drill.

Don’t forget to save the date! The annual Public Safety Open House will be held from 10AM to 2PM on Sat., Sept. 25, 2021, at the Public Safety Campus on Aurora Avenue. Can’t wait to see you!
